Problem Child

Problem Child....no...not really a child...that's what I'm calling my latest project!!! This pain in my neck little blessing has taken up HOURS of my time! And she's STILL not ready! First of all, most of the hours that have been spent have been on painting alllll of the lil details, all of the lil ornamental pieces on it. See here...

All of those little details were fun to paint, but took forever! And you see how it's upside down? It's sitting on some big cans that are covered with a towel. I got the tip from another blogster to turn it upside down so that it would be easier to do the legs. Ummm yeah, no...the towel didn't stop one of the cans from making a half circle into my primed table-top! And I wont even go into the priming then sanding then priming then resanding it all off and priming again that we had already gone through before this had happened! Lol! So, sanded again! Then painted and it was beautiful, but needed one more coat. Wow, it's amazing how much one last coat can change something...and someone's emotions! Haha! Yeahhh, with every single swish of my brush these little tiny blobs of paint (dried I guess) were getting on the table! And a couple of bristles out of my "Oh nooo, this paint brush will NOT lose bristles" paint brush! Wow...so after it dried I sanded it...again! Got more paint and started over on the top. The color was slightly off (just a teeniny-tiny-tad-bit lighter) but I knew with the glaze that it wouldn't be noticable at all! So I let it dry, looked great, did some very light sanding and added another layer on. Wow...more lil globs of paint found! But, this time there were very few. I knew I could sand those off and I had a plan! I would add my "flo-mo-jo" to the paint this time and it would all be good! Oh, and I was using my tiny cute lil paint brush...another "Oh there's no way THIS one will lose bristles" paintbrush! Well, I guess I have bad luck with paint brushes because one came out when painting that last coat and about 10 came out while I was washing it! Anyways, I wasn't going to let all of that get me down! I had decided that while I let that last coat dry well over night, I would go ahead and glaze the bottom part...I had been waiting for that anyways...it's the fun part. It is supposed to be the fun part! UHHHHHG! I slapped it on and went to wipe it off and, yep you guessed it, the paint started coming off! SERIOUSLY!???
See the tiny strips of grey under the turquoise!??!
Ok, now I want to cry! Is it the paint? Is it because it's eggshell and not glossy? Is it the heat?

This is what we have decided (are hoping for)...it's this Texas heat and the paint has not hardened (cured) enough! (Should have been using my "flo-mo-jo" the whole time!)
So...we loaded her back into the house to give her some time to get more beauty sleep! I'm REALLY hoping that does the trick! I just can't believe how many hours have been wasted so far! BUT....it will all be worth it if she turns out like I'm expecting and makes it into someone's beautiful home!

Well, I'm still trying not to let it get me down too much (though I'm starting to have my doubts about all of this). Luckily, my neighbor across the street had put a lil sweetheart of a nightstand out by the road! It felt like a lil wink from God, saying, "It's ok...here, work on this one for a while!" ;-) So, that's what I'm going to do. Plus I'm still working on the other piece that I showed you all a sneek peek of the other day! I keep calling it a hutch but it's not a hutch...more like a buffet, or ...well I dunno, but it's not a hutch! Lol. Whatever it is, it's givin' me some headaches too but that is for a whole other blog!! Lol!

So, until then....

-But Moses said to the Lord, "Since I speak with faltering lips, why would Pharaoh listen to me?"
-Exodus 6:30    Maybe we shouldn't question so much how God is going to work through us. Maybe today we shoud just ask Him what He wants us to do or to say.

Sign For Daddy

So my Dad had a birthday recently...then there was Father's day. I NEVER know what to get him! BUT this year was different! This year, I was going to be a good daughter and get great gifts! For his b-day I got him this wooden double-cooler thingy majig that went with their patio decor (that they are currently redecorating) and it went perfect! He seemed very pleased! Haha...1 brownie point for his #1 daughter! LOL...I'm his ONLY daughter...well...besides his "adopted daughters" throughout the years. Anywho...so what to do for Father's Day?? He had been wanting something to hang on the house in the patio section. So...I got him the metal star he wanted AND....spent SEVERAL hours painting THIS.....

(If you will click on the photo you can probably see the details much better)

HE LOVED IT!!! And my Step-Mom did as well! They started in on debating on who was going to get to hang it where! I have to admit that she should have SOME kinda say-so since the reason I did two gifts for Father's Day and they included one that could be for the BOTH of them, was because I didn't get her anything for Mother's Day...I know...BAD daughter! Lol...BUT...I think I made up for it! 2 brownie points! They are really happy with their Webbville sign! Webbville is what we have said they should call their property when they buy enough for the whole family to live on! Hey...it could happen! Anyways, I'm please with my new brownie points with dad and Beth!! Cant wait to see who wins the battle of where they are going to hang it!! Maybe I should paint another for inside the house..."Bethville....If Momma aint happy, nobody's happy!" Haha, whatcha think!!?? I like that idea!

Have a blessed rest-of-the-week!

Ok so as promised here are some photos of the changing table. I had SO much fun doing this project! But I will say that it took about twice as long to complete than I thought it would!

These photos were taken with my phone so they are not the greatest!

So here is a terrible picture of the BEFORE:

And here are the AFTER pics!....(please remember these are taken with a phone and not a good camera AND it's not "staged"...)

Isn't she beautiful!! Man I wish I had better pictures to show you!

Terrible glare...so sorry! :-(

Ahhhhh my favorite shot! I saw almost this exact photo on Fab Rehab Creations and thought... "I have GOT TO create that look!" Mine is not quite as dark as hers but it's close! I love the "patina" on this dresser!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE!

*This beauty is still available! Msg me for details!*

So, there they are friends! I enjoyed doing this piece SO much!!

Now for a sneak peek of my next project that should be finished in a few days.......

It's going to take a LOT of sanding to get that design off!! I've already tried painting over it. It's SO not working!! :-( Oh well, it's going to be so purdy when I'm finished with it! I'm thinking....Colonial Red!??! Whatcha think!!??!!

Until then....

Changing Table/Dresser Finished!

I DID IT! Finally! I finished the changing table/dresser! This is going to make a great addition to someones home. I'm so proud of it! I'll be posting pictures of it tomorrow and posting it on craigslist and on my facebook page! Wont last long!! I'm so excited!!! (Yes, I like exclamation points!!! lol)

On another note...we've been listening to teaching on the spirit of Jezabelle. (sp) It's what our Pastor spoke about today. However, we missed the message today :-( And of course our Pastor posted on fb that it was the best service in the 4yrs he's been there! Uhhhg! We weren't there so of course it was! :-( So...we tuned in to listen to Pastor Ron preach at Redemption (our "parent church") and guess what he spoke on...you guessed it...Jezebelle spirit! Man it was so good. These things that can change our lives SO much NEED to be exposed like that! Anyways, it was great. Cant wait to get a cd of Apostle Joey speaking on it! Ok well, guess I need to go to bed now. Night night!

Oh and thank you Miss Cindismith1 for being my first follower! I tried to send you a message but it wouldn't let me!! :-(

Kendra
I found this little piece of moulding with hook at my local GW. I had big plans for this. Looks like it was to hang a dog leash on...the name on the dog bone plate was "Maggie." Sorry Maggie, I see this as something beautiful!!.....

*Still Available for purchase! Msg me!*

Now THAT'S more like it!! :-) I like it much better now! (Ok so in the pic, I have not actually screwed down the hook yet or glued the embellishment down so it looks a lil cattywompus lol, is that a word?)

Still trying to figure out where/how I'm going to sell small items like this. For my big furniture pieces I think I am going to just put on Craigslist. Not sure yet about these small items. Any ideas? Hope you are having a GREAT Sunday!!

In the beginning....

Wow, I did it! I've started my blog! Thanks to fairygraphics.com and blogger.com it was easy! Ok, it was very time consuming and is STILL a work in progress but still, it was easier than I thought it was going to be!
So my plan is to blog about my many addictions crafting adventures (and have a place to send people to view my furniture and craft pieces), and just everyday life experiences! We will see how it goes. I'm currently in between nursing jobs. So, when I get back to work who knows how much time I'll have to actually work on my projects AND blog!? How do these ladies do it!?! I follow many blogs written by wonderfully talented women that seem to find the time to work, raise children, craft, design, take a million and one photos and yet still find the time to blog about all of it! So, I'm hoping that I will be able to do so also.
Now if I can just figure out how to add photos!!...lol...maybe then you could see what I am working on! Until then, be blessed!! Oh and until I get this thing going, chech out the blogs that I follow! They are AMAZING! My favorite at the moment are Fab Rehab Creations http://fabrehabcreations.blogspot.com and My *Pink* Life http://aimee-weaver.blogspot.com/. Check them out! I have many more favorites tho, see my list!!

(This was typed up earlier today and I thought I had lost this post! Luckily I just found it in my drafts! Also while trying to paint my lil dresser I had spilled almost all of my paint! AND the paint on the dresser kept getting tacky while I was still painting :-( BUT... Good news, the dresser is coming along great now. Bought more paint and I found my "flo" product that is making my painting much much smoother! Wont paint without it again!
Oh and I also finished a really pretty $1 candle stick that I found at my local GW. It's about 12 inches tall and now it's oh so purdy! Cant wait  to show the pics!)
